The Starlink Mini can be connected to the PredictWind DataHub Pro using an Ethernet cable. For customers wanting to power their Starlink Mini and carry Ethernet data over a single cable, a compatible third-party Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector and splitter kit can be used.
This setup can be useful on boats where the Starlink Mini is mounted away from the DataHub Pro and a single cable installation is preferred.
What equipment do I need?
Starlink Mini
PredictWind DataHub Pro
A compatible Starlink Mini PoE injector and splitter kit
Suitable Ethernet cables
A power supply compatible with the PoE equipment and Starlink Mini
Example third-party equipment:
Important: The Starlink Mini does not support PoE directly. The third-party kit must include the appropriate components to separate power and data before connecting to the Starlink Mini.
How to connect your Starlink Mini to the DataHub Pro
Connect the compatible PoE injector to its required power supply, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Connect the PoE injector and splitter using a suitable Ethernet cable.
Connect the splitter's power and Ethernet outputs to the corresponding ports on the Starlink Mini.
Connect the data-only LAN port of the PoE injector to the WAN port on the DataHub Pro using an Ethernet cable.
Power on the equipment and allow the Starlink Mini to establish an internet connection.
The DataHub Pro should automatically connect to the internet through the Ethernet WAN connection.
For instructions on checking your connection, see our Connect your Starlink to the DataHub Pro Help Article.
Important considerations
Check that the PoE equipment is specifically designed for the Starlink Mini.
Confirm the voltage, power requirements and cable compatibility before purchasing.
Follow the adapter manufacturer's installation instructions, as connections may vary between products.
The DataHub Pro requires its own power supply and is not powered by the Starlink Mini PoE adapter.
Ensure all outdoor connections are suitably protected against water ingress.
Please note: These are third-party accessories and are not supplied or tested by PredictWind. We recommend checking product reviews and installation videos before purchasing to ensure the equipment is suitable for your onboard setup.
