PredictWind's AI Weather Routing Briefing provides a detailed, easy-to-understand briefing of your planned passage, helping you identify important weather conditions, potential risks and changes to expect along your route.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, PredictWind's AI Weather Routing Briefing is a trained model built in-house by our own development team, specifically to analyse and interpret PredictWind's Weather Routing results. It is not using a general-purpose chatbot; it is purpose-trained on PredictWind's own weather routing data. Our team has extensively tested, analysed and refined the technology, with valuable input from experienced captains, professional mariners and routing experts, to ensure the briefings provide practical, relevant insights for powerboat owners.
Built on PredictWind's weather routing technology, developed and refined over the past 16 years, the AI Briefing analyses your completed Power Routing calculations and transforms complex routing data into a clear, easy-to-understand written briefing, much like the passage briefing you would receive from an experienced navigator or captain before departure or during a passage.

What does the AI Weather Routing Briefing tell you?
The AI Briefing analyses the calculated routes across eight weather forecast models and highlights the key information to help you prepare for your passage.
Depending on the length of your passage, the briefing highlights:
Expected wind conditions and gusts.
Changes in weather conditions throughout the passage.
Expected wave and swell conditions, including wave height, direction and period.
Boat comfort, including RMS roll, vertical acceleration and slamming, where Wave Polar data is available.
Potentially challenging conditions and safety considerations.
Expected motoring conditions and how weather and sea conditions may affect your passage.
Estimated fuel consumption
Forecast uncertainty further into the passage.
The briefing is broken down into time periods, making it easier to understand what conditions to expect during different stages of your journey.
Is the AI Briefing personalised to my boat?
PredictWind's Power Routing algorithm uses your selected Power settings and boat dimensions as well as routing preferences to calculate routes based on your boat's individual performance characteristics.
The AI Briefing then analyses these completed routing results, providing insights specific to your boat, your planned route and the conditions you are likely to encounter, rather than generic weather advice.
Does the AI Briefing replace the detailed Weather Routing results?
No. The AI Briefing complements the detailed Weather Routing maps, graphs and data tables by highlighting key information and conditions that may require closer attention.
Use it alongside these results to support your passage planning, always checking the latest forecasts and actual onboard conditions and applying your own judgement when planning and navigating your passage.
