After completing a weather route, you can export it in a GPX format to your GPS or Navigation software. GPX is just a standard format for transferring waypoints between programs.
All 6 weather routes PWG, PWE, GFS, ECMWF, UKMO & SPIRE can be exported. However, we recommend that you export the active route.
Go to the Waypoints icon on the map and add waypoints to your weather route by tapping the plus symbol.
On the map, move them to a position that averages the 6 weather routes, or follow the majority of the weather routes if there is no consensus.
Then go to the tables.
Then Export.
Select your weather route to be exported from. Select Route: use my waypoints. This is the route we averaged over the 6 routes.
Then Export as GPX.
On a Tablet, you will now have the option to copy the weather route to your navigation software.
On a Mac or PC, you will save the GPX file to your desktop and then import the file to your navigation software.
To transfer the weather route to an MFD, you will need to save the route to an SD card.
Please remember that the optimal weather route shows the trend and the general course. It relies on the forecast and your boat's performance polar being accurate. It is not a "turn-by-turn" GPS car navigation system, so some interpretation is needed. The weather route should be updated every 12 hours when the weather models update.
In addition, the optimal weather route should be revised for navigational purposes. It is the user's responsibility to modify the weather route to avoid these navigational hazards. The PredictWind Weather Router now uses Depth Avoidance rather than traditional land avoidance. To achieve this, PredictWind has acquired 2m/5m/10m/20m/30m depth contours for the entire world.
