The PredictWind Weather Router uses Depth Avoidance rather than traditional land avoidance. To achieve this, PredictWind uses 2m, 5m, 10m, 20m, and 30m depth contours worldwide.
In the Weather Routing Preferences, you can set Depth Avoidance to Land, 2m, 5m, 10m, 20m, or 30m, depending on the appropriate depth for your boat.
PredictWind Weather Routing is not a navigation tool
PredictWind is a weather forecasting and routing tool, not a navigational tool. While Weather Routing uses depth contours to help calculate a route, it does not replace your onboard navigational software or provide live navigation.
The optimal weather route should always be reviewed for navigational safety before use. It is the user's responsibility to modify the route where necessary to avoid navigational hazards. You can also export your route from PredictWind for use with compatible navigational software.
If a route cannot be calculated or looks unusual
If the Weather Router cannot calculate a route, or the calculated route looks unusual, try moving your start and finish waypoints into deeper water.

Adjusting the Depth Avoidance setting to the lowest safe setting for your boat.
Adding additional waypoints to guide the route through deeper water.
