How to Always Receive Anchor Alert Notifications with Audio on iPhone
To ensure you never miss an anchor alert, you’ll need to allow notifications in Focus (Do Not Disturb) mode on your iPhone, and disable alerts on your Apple Watch so they stay on the phone with audio even while you sleep.
📲 1. Allow Anchor Alert Notifications in Focus / Do Not Disturb Mode
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap Focus.
Select the Focus mode you usually use while sleeping (e.g., Sleep, Do Not Disturb, or any custom one you use on the boat).
Tap Apps under the "Allowed Notifications" section.
Tap Add App and select Anchor Alert from the list.
Tap Done to save.
This allows Anchor Alert notifications to come through even when Focus is enabled.
⌚️ 2. Disable Notifications on Apple Watch (So Audio Plays on iPhone)
By default, if your iPhone is locked and you’re wearing an Apple Watch, notifications will go to the Watch silently, which could cause you to miss important anchor alerts.
To stop this:
Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
Tap Notifications.
Scroll down and find Anchor Alert.
Select Mirror my iPhone and toggle it OFF or set to Custom.
Under custom options, turn Off Notifications or select iPhone only if available.
This ensures audio notifications stay on your phone, not just the watch.
🔊 3. Optional: Turn Off Silent Mode on iPhone
If your phone is on silent, alerts can still be vibration-only even with these settings. To ensure audible alerts:
Toggle the ring/silent switch on the left side of your iPhone to ring mode (orange NOT showing).
Or, adjust Settings > Sounds & Haptics to increase alert volume.
Summary
To make sure you always hear Anchor Alerts:
Allow notifications in Focus modes Sleep and Do Not Disturb.
Disable or customize alerts on your Apple Watch.
Keep your iPhone out of silent mode for audio.
