Why does my Weather Routing not have Wave Data ?

Written by Jude Eades

If your weather routing does not have wave data, consider the following:

  • You must have a Professional PredictWind Forecast Subscription to access wave routing data > RMS Roll, Vertical Acceleration, and Slamming Incidence in your Weather Routing results.

  • If you have recently upgraded your PredictWind Subscription to Professional, and see no wave data. You will be viewing an older route. Please run your route again and the wave data will now show.

  • Ensure all your boat dimensions are saved in your PredictWind Forecast account at forecast.predictwind.com.

  • Note that the PredictWind App and Offshore App can only use the Wave Polar settings saved on your account. You cannot modify Wave Polar Dimensions in these apps.

  • Wave Polars must be turned ON for your boat.

Where do I find these Wave Polar ON settings?

PredictWind Website > Weather Routing > Sail Routing > Routing Preferences> Make sure the Wave Polar button is enabled and Manual Wave Polar is OFF

PredictWind App - Weather Routing >Sail Routing > Settings wheel (Top Right) > Sail Polars> Enable Wave Polar

Offshore App (iOS or Android Device)> Download > Weather Routing Preferences > Wave Polar

Offshore App Windows 10 > File (top left) > Settings > Routing

Offshore App Mac > PredictWind Offshore (top left) > Settings> Routing

  • Wave data is only available for up to 10 days from the current time. If you are running a route that starts more than 10 days in the future, wave data will not be shown. Try running a route with a start time of NOW to see the wave data .
