Anchor Alert - Frequently Asked Questions

Written by Matt Crockett

In the Anchor Alert on the N2K Data Dashboard, why does the MWD (magnetic wind direction) value not match the DataHub NMEA > Navigation page MWD value?

The MWD value displayed on the Anchor Alert N2K Data screen reflects the real-time value received by the app from the boat's instruments while connected to DataHub Wi-Fi, which the DataHub converts to NMEA0183.

The MWD value displayed in the DataHub on the NMEA > Navigation page is averaged over a minute, so there will be a small delta and lag between these values.

This means the Alert History Detail for a Wind Direction Alert will lag behind the real-time and remote-monitoring MWD you see in the N2K Dashboard. The alert will be triggered by the DataHub at the right time, provided that the 1-minute MWD average exceeds the set tolerance, to avoid false alerts.
