The MWD (Magnetic Wind Direction) shown on the Anchor Alert N2K Data Dashboard is the current, real-time wind direction received from your boat’s instruments while your device is connected to the DataHub Wi-Fi.
The MWD shown on the DataHub NMEA > Navigation page is slightly different because it displays an average of the wind direction over the previous minute. Because of this averaging, the value may be slightly different and will respond more slowly to changes in wind direction.
Wind Direction Alerts also use this one-minute average. An alert is triggered when the average wind direction moves outside the tolerance you have set. Using an average rather than an instantaneous reading helps prevent alerts being triggered by brief changes or fluctuations in wind direction.
For the same reason, the MWD shown in the Alert History Detail may be slightly behind the real-time MWD displayed on the N2K Data Dashboard.
