PredictWind uses Mapbox as a third-party mapping provider. Mapbox provides the underlying maps that allow us to display PredictWind weather information, Weather Routes, and other data on the map.
The geographic place names and labels displayed on these maps are provided by Mapbox and are not created or renamed by PredictWind.
In some parts of the world, a geographic location may have different names depending on the country, region, language, or mapping convention being used.
Mapbox may update or display these labels differently to reflect regional or official naming conventions.
For example, some users may see the Gulf of Mexico labelled as the Gulf of America, or may see both names displayed, depending on the map data and regional settings being applied.
Similar differences can occur with other geographic names, boundaries, or disputed areas around the world.
Because these map labels come from our third-party mapping provider, PredictWind does not directly control the name displayed for an individual geographic feature.
If you notice a map label that you believe is incorrect, please contact the PredictWind Support Team with a screenshot and details of the location. We can review the issue and, where appropriate, raise it with our mapping provider.
