The routing uses the ECMWF/SPIRE/UKMO/GFS/PWG/PWE model data for 10 days, then uses the ECMWF ensemble from 10 days to 30 days which is a climate average, picking up trades and dominant weather patterns.

For the UKMO forecast that only goes out 7 days, we use the ECMWF forecast from 7 days to 10 days then the ECMWF ensemble.

For weather routing results from days 10 to 30, we use the ECMWF ensemble to complete the route. We download all 50 members of the ECMWF ensemble and average this forecast data. This has limitations, as expected, but it shows persistent weather patterns.

In reality on passage you would be updating the weather routing every 12 hours for the next 10 days using the actual models.

Using the routing on the PredictWind website and the PredictWind App, you will see the ECMWF Ensemble data load after 10 days.
