GO! exec Unlimited Plan

The simplest way to use the GO exec without limits and prevent bill shock from data overages is to select the GO! exec Unlimited Plan when activating your SIM card. This plan provides unlimited data, subject to Iridium's fair use policy.

How to configure your device and prepare it for App use with minimal data transfer

To maximize the available bandwidth through the GO exec ensure your device is configured to minimize background data usage.

Follow these steps to optimize your settings:

1. Turn off Software Updates

iPhone/iPad - turn off Software Updates

To turn off Software Updates on your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open your iOS device Settings.

  2. Tap General > Software Updates > Turn off all options.

  3. Tap General > Background App Refresh > Set to Off.

  4. Tap Apple Account (your name) > iCloud+ > iCloud Backup > Turn off Backup this phone.

Android - turn off Software Updates

To turn off Software Updates on your Android device (varies by O/S and manufacturer):

  1. Open your Android device Settings.

  2. Tap System or Software Update > Set all settings to Off.

2. Set Wi-Fi to Low Data Mode / Treat as Metered

iPhone/iPad - Low Data Mode, Private Wi-Fi Address & Limit IP Address Tracking

To configure your iPhone/iPad with Low Data mode for Iridium & DataHub Wi-Fi:

  1. Open your iOS device settings.

  2. Tap the GO exec or DataHub Wi-Fi, e.g. IRIDIUM-62341 or PW-Hub-xxxx.

  3. Tap the blue i to the right of the Wi-Fi network name to open the Wi-Fi network settings and turn on Low Data Mode.

  4. Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address and Limit IP Address Tracking.

  5. If you have successfully enabled Low Data Mode, it will display No Internet Connection - Low Data Mode under the Wi-Fi network name when connected.

Android - Wi-Fi Treat as metered

To configure your Android device to treat the network as metered varies by Android version and manufacturer. Two step-by-step methods are:

  1. Open your Android device Settings.

  2. Tap Network and Internet > Internet.

  3. Under Wi-Fi networks, tap to connect to GO exec or DataHub Wi-Fi.

  4. Tap Network Usage and select Treat as Metered then tap the <- back arrow top left of the screen.

  5. If you have successfully enabled Treat as Metered, the Wi-Fi network status will display a message such as Connected to device. Can't provide Internet/Metered.

Alternative Android method (Samsung)

To configure your Samsung Android to treat a Wi-Fi network as metered:

  1. Open your Android device Settings and tap Connections.

  2. Tap Wi-Fi then tap to connect to to GO exec or DataHub Wi-Fi.

  3. Tap Advanced, then select Metered network > Treat as Metered and tap Save.

Please search your manufacturer's website if these steps do not work for your Android.

3. Enable Low Power Mode / Battery Saver Mode

iPhone / iPad - Low Power Mode

On iOS devices Low Power Mode adds to Low Data mode by pausing email fetch. In most cases, to enable Low Power Mode, drag down from the top right-hand corner of your unlocked device screen and tap on the Battery icon.

Alternatively, to enable Low Power Mode on your iPhone/iPad open your iOS device settings > Battery and enable Low Power Mode.

Android

On Android devices, enabling Battery Saver Mode can prevent background app activity. To enable Battery Saver on your Android device:

  1. Open your Android device Settings.

  2. Tap Battery > Battery Saver.

  3. Enable Battery Saver:

    • Tap on Battery Saver or Power Saving Mode.

    • Tap on Turn on now or toggle the switch to activate Use Battery Saver.

How to enable Battery Saver mode on Android varies by phone manufacturer and Android version. For Samsung, it can be found in Settings > Device Care or Battery and device care. If you cannot find it, search your device's settings for 'battery' or the device manufacturer's website.
