How to use DataHub AI Polars in the Offshore App

Optimize your Sail Routing in the Offshore App with DataHub AI Polars

DataHub AI Polar Generation

First, you need the following:

  1. A DataHub connected to your NMEA 2000 instrumentation system outputting Apparent Wind Speed, Apparent Wind Angle, Speed over Ground and Course over Ground.

  2. GPS Tracking must be enabled on your DataHub. AI Polar data is uploaded with GPS tracking position reports being sent.

  3. Then you need to enable AI Polars in the DataHub.

  4. Set up your boat's base polar and select to use AI Polars in the Forecast Website > Sail Routing > Routing Preferences.

To learn how to set up and enable AI Polars in your PredictWind Forecast account, please review AI Polars - DataHub Automatic Polar Generation.

Setting Up AI Polars in the Offshore App

When you have set your Sail Routing Preferences in the Forecast Website to use DataHub AI polars, the Offshore App will automatically sync these settings the next time it is opened with a high-speed Internet connection, e.g. Cellular, Starlink or high-speed Wi-Fi.

Check Polar set up in the iOS and Android versions of the Offshore App.

To check if the Offshore App is using DataHub Polars, or to change it:

  1. Open the Offshore App.

  2. Tap Download.

  3. Tap Weather Routing Preferences.

  4. Tap Route Settings > Boat Polar.

  5. At the top of the screen, check that Boat Polar > Boat Type > DataHub or AI Polar is selected. Then tap < Back and < Weather Routing Preferences in the top left.

  6. At the bottom of the screen, tap Continue to Download. This will then use your DataHub AI polars for weather routing.

Troubleshooting

  • If you don’t see the DataHub/AI Polar as a Polar option, your Offshore App may need an update.

Visit the relevant App store to update using a high speed internet connection before leaving the dock.
