On the GO exec if you see the message Low power charger detected. Some features may not be available, this refers to the power supply connected to the GO exec supplying less than 3 amps.

This error is expected when connecting a charger that cannot supply this many amps. Most after-market USB chargers provide 2 - 2.4 amps.

The Iridium GO exec ships with a USB-C, 5 Volt, 3 amp power adaptor. We recommend that you use this to avoid seeing the warning.

If you plug it into a lower power charger into the GO exec, e.g. 2-amp, it will still charge, just not quite as fast. At PredictWind, we've been using the GO exec with 2-amp chargers for a long time, and it's just fine. Keep an eye on the GO exec's battery charge level; you should see it charging up when it is plugged in.

If you are using a different USB socket, it should offer at least 2 amps. If your GO exec is connected to an external antenna, it is essential to know that this draws more power, so if the battery gets low, you will need to disconnect the external antenna from the device on a low-power charger until it has charged sufficiently (e.g. to 80%) before reconnecting it.

You can install a high-quality USB socket with a 3-amp fuse on a dedicated power circuit as an alternative to the Iridium charger. Here is an example of what a USB-C socket, here.
