Yes! You can connect to the DataHub via another network on your boat to start an Anchor Alert session, e.g. Starlink/Peplink. To do this:

  1. Open the Anchor Alert App Settings > DataHub Connection and tap to enable Edit IP Address and Port.

  2. Set the IP address of the DataHub on your other network, e.g. 192.168.1.x, and ensure the DataHub username and password are correct. Tap Done.

  3. Force close and reopen the Anchor Alert App by dragging up from the bottom of the screen, then swiping up. Finally, connect to your preferred Wi-Fi network and reopen the Anchor Alert app.

Handy Tip: If you're not sure what the DataHub IP address is on your Starlink / Peplink or other network, check the Services > Settings > System Status page

Very Important Notes - Must Read

  1. To avoid losing connectivity with the DataHub, set a Fixed IP address for the DataHub when using another Wi-Fi network. It is best to do this on your other router, e.g. Peplink.

To set a fixed WAN IP in the DataHub instead, please see this help article: https://help.predictwind.com/en/articles/8606130-datahub-how-to-change-the-datahub-ip-address-and-set-static-ips#h_996dd70e91

  2. If you start an alert session with another Wi-Fi network, you can ONLY receive Internet-based alerts. This means your other Wi-Fi network MUST have Internet connectivity. This is very important because it means if you turn off that Wi-Fi, e.g. Starlink, overnight, then you won't receive alerts if the DataHub sends them. To receive alerts overnight, please reconnect your device to DataHub Wi-Fi.

It is also important to be aware that Starlink can update your router's Firmware at any time without warning, taking it offline for 10m or longer. Therefore, while on the boat, we recommend only connecting your device to DataHub Wi-Fi to ensure the device will receive alert messages.
