How can I view Wave Height and Wave Period for my saved locations

Where to find Wave forecast information

Written by Marleen Cleyndert

Wave Height and Wave Period can be viewed in multiple places within the PredictWind App and website. We provide the ECMWF Wave Model at 9 km resolution, which is widely regarded as one of the best global wave models. We also offer the GFS and UKMO wave models for your saved locations, both are available at 25km resolution.

How to view the Wave Map

For your forecast locations, the Wave Map can display the ECMWF, GFS, and UKMO wave models. You can change the displayed model in the Forecast Options menu. Use the timeline to view the forecast at different times. Tap anywhere on the map to display a pop-up with detailed wave information, including:

  • Wave Height

  • Wave Direction

  • Wave Period

Other places to view Wave Height and Wave Period

Wave Height and Wave Period are also displayed in:

  • Forecast Tables

  • Forecast Graphs

  • Daily Briefing

Important

To receive Wave forecast data throughout the app and website, make sure your forecast location is positioned offshore rather than on land. Locations placed on land may not display Wave forecast information.
