Updated this week

You will need a Laptop (PC or Mac) and a high-speed internet connection to download the Firmware file. NOTE: Updating the firmware cannot be done on a mobile device or tablet.

Please check you have the latest Iridium GO firmware by opening the Iridium GO! App on your Android or Apple device > Log in. Once log-in is complete > go to the Help icon > Click on the "About" menu. The Iridium GO! firmware version should be 2.1.22. OR 2.1.24*** It is critical that you have the latest firmware for a reliable connection and for the Apps to work.

***NOTE: FROM OCTOBER 2022, THERE IS A NEW FIRMWARE VERSION, 2.1.24.**

This firmware upgrade accounts for a change in the internal hardware from the existing GPS module (end of life) to the new GPS module. The upgrade does not alter device operation or functionality. Iridium GO units on version 2.1.22 do NOT need to update the firmware.

Devices with 2.1.24 should NEVER be downgraded. If a device with 2.1.24 is downgraded by mistake, it will need to be sent back to Iridium for a reinstall of the upgrade, as this can currently only be done by Iridium.

The Iridium GO! device contains an internal website portal that can be used to upgrade the firmware. You will need a Laptop (PC or Mac) and a high-speed internet connection to download the Firmware file. NOTE: Updating the firmware cannot be done on a mobile device or tablet.

Instructions

  1. NOTE: Updating the firmware cannot be done on a mobile device or tablet. ***Do not use Firmware version 2.1.22 if your Iridium GO is currently on 2.1.24.

  2. If your computer asks what folder to save the Firmware file to, choose 'Desktop'. Once this file has been downloaded, you do NOT need to open the file. Go straight to Step 3.

  3. Connect your PC or Mac to the Iridium GO! Wi-Fi.

  4. Open an internet browser (recommend Chrome) and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Press Enter on your keyboard and log in with an administrator account (by default, “guest” & "guest").

  5. Go to the System tab (top right) and select the Firmware file to upload. It should be in the Desktop or Downloads folder.

  6. Once complete, you will need to do another power off/on of the Iridium GO!

NOTES: Iridium released this firmware version 2.1.22 on the 5th of October 2021, and it fixes the 2014 time/ date issue.

They have also released a new version of the iOS (v1.6.33) and Android (v1.6.20) Iridium GO! App which needs to be updated on your devices to completely fix any time/date issues. You can find the latest Iridium GO! App on the AppStore/Google Playstore.
