Anchor Alert Pro - my device cannot connect to the DataHub

Written by Matt Crockett

1. Check your device is connected to DataHub Wi-Fi

If your Anchor Alert cannot connect to the DataHub, ensure it is connected to DataHub Wi-Fi, which appears as PW-Hub-XXXX.

If your device has multiple known Wi-Fi networks nearby, e.g., Starlink / Iridium GO exec / 4G/5G Wi-Fi router, it may switch to one with a stronger signal. Ensure all your other saved networks on the device have Auto-Join disabled.

To disable Wi-Fi Auto-Join on your Apple device:

  1. Open your Apple device Settings.

  2. Tap on Wi-Fi.

  3. Connect your device to DataHub Wi-Fi (e.g. PW-Hub-XXXX).

  4. Under the My Networks / Known Networks section below your current Wi-Fi network, tap on the blue i symbol on the right-hand side next to other known networks nearby.

  5. Disable Auto-Join and tap the < back arrow.

2. Enable Local Network on your Apple device

The Anchor Alert requires Local Network access to connect with the DataHub. To enable this:

  1. On your Apple device, go to Settings.

  2. Swipe down and tap on Anchor Alert.

  3. Tap Local Network and set it to on (green).

3. Update your DataHub password or IP configuration

If you have changed the default DataHub password, IP address or NMEA port settings, update these in the Anchor Alert so it can connect to the DataHub.

To update the default DataHub connection settings in the Anchor Alert turn off Auto-detect to change:

  1. Tap the Settings cog on the top right of the screen.

  2. In App Settings, tap DataHub Connection

  3. Disable auto-detect to make changes.

  4. Edit the Password, IP address or port settings and tap Done on the keyboard.

  5. Wait a few seconds for a DataHub login successful message to display on the screen, then tap the back arrow < twice to return to the app screen.

4. Drop app into background to attempt Auto-detect

  1. If you are connected to DataHub Wi-Fi, have the correct login username and password with DataHub Auto-detect selected then you may need to drop the app into the background, then open it again.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen quickly to drop app into the background.

  3. Open the Anchor Alert again and it will search for a connected DataHub
