DataHub Pro : How to enable Remote Access for Support

Remote support for the DataHub Pro

The remote access feature allows the PredictWind support team to access your DataHub Pro remotely to assist with resolving technical issues. To use remote access, your DataHub Pro must have access to high-speed Internet. Once our support team has access, they can view the same DataHub Pro menus you see, view logs, and troubleshoot or remotely set up the DataHub Pro. It is a powerful support feature!

How to Enable Remote Access on the DataHub Pro

With your device connected to DataHub Pro Wi-Fi or via Ethernet cable to the LAN port, open your web browser, e.g. Safari or Chrome, type 10.10.10.1 in the URL bar, and log in.

Important Note

You must log in to your DataHub Pro on the Account page with your PredictWind Forecast Account email address and password before enabling Remote Access.

To do this, go to Services > Account > enter your PredictWind Forecast email address and password, then click Save & Apply.

How you enable remote support is dependent on the Firmware version you are on

DataHub Firmware 4.51 or later

  1. If you have not already done so, change the default username and password for DataHub Pro. This is required before you can enable Remote Access.

    Click the Remote Access menu, then click the link on the page to set a new password.

  2. Enter the Current default password "admin", then type a new password that is at least 8 characters and includes at least one capital letter, one number, and one special character (for example ! @ # $ % + = ?).


    We strongly advise you to click the stars * next to the new Password fields to reveal it, then take a photo of the new password before you click Save or add it to your Password Manager.

  3. After clicking Save, you will be logged out of the DataHub Pro. Log back in.

  4. On the left menu, click on Remote Access at the top or bottom of the menu.

  5. For Purpose, click and select Support.

  6. Add your Boat Name, Your Name, Email Address and your DataHub Pro admin password, so we can log in to your DataHub Pro.

    You can change it later after remote assistance is complete.

    Add any other relevant information, such as your best contact phone number. If you are already talking with someone at PredictWind, please include the Support Team member's name.

  7. Click ENABLE REMOTE SUPPORT.

  • In around 10 seconds, you will see a page similar to the one below. Please copy all the URL text and paste it into a reply email or message back to the PredictWind Support Team member you're speaking with, or include it in your initial message to us.

  • By default, these URLs are randomly generated and only exist until either you click DISABLE REMOTE SUPPORT or Internet connectivity is lost from the DataHub.

    To ensure your Remote Access connection remains live in case of a short loss of internet, next enable Startup on Boot and Persistent Connection.

DataHub Pro Firmware 4.50 or earlier

Important Note

You must log in to your DataHub Pro on the Account page with your PredictWind Forecast Account email address and password before enabling Remote Access.

To do this, go to Services > Account > enter your PredictWind Forecast email address and password, then click Save & Apply.

Enable Startup on Boot and Persistent Connection - for extended Support access

If you're receiving extended support from PredictWind, have fluctuating Internet connectivity, or need help when you are not at the DataHub Pro when it is connected to the Internet for brief periods, it can be helpful to enable the Start-Up on Boot and Persistent Connection settings before you activate Remote Support. These settings will reactivate Remote Support on the same URLS each time the DataHub Pro boots up.

To do this:

  • Click on the left menu Remote Access.

  • Click on the top menu Settings.

  • Tick Startup on Boot and Persistent Connection.

  • Click SAVE & APPLY.

With those settings saved, please now click on the top menu Remote Access and ENABLE REMOTE SUPPORT to generate the random URLs.

Important Note: When all outstanding issues have been resolved with the PredictWind Support team, and remote access is no longer required, please deactivate these settings and disable Remote Access to secure your DataHub Pro.
