Connecting your GO exec to the DataHub
You can connect your GO exec to the DataHub via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
If you are planning to:
Connect a GO exec only; we recommend you connect it via Ethernet cable to the DataHub WAN port. This is the simplest and most reliable method. It will also save your DataHub 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network for connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot or other instruments on your boat if you do not have an N2K cable network.
Connect both an Iridium GO exec and Starlink; we recommend you connect the GO exec via Ethernet cable to the DataHub WAN port to save you from buying the Starlink Ethernet adaptor. Connect the Starlink to the DataHub via Wi-Fi.
Connect via Wi-Fi. If connecting via Ethernet is unsuitable because you cannot run a cable or connect the DataHub to your GO exec via Ethernet, as an alternative, you can connect to GO exec to the DataHub via Wi-Fi.
Important Note: Connecting your GO exec to both Ethernet and Wi-Fi is unnecessary and will cause problems.
Use Ethernet to connect your GO exec to the DataHub
To connect your GO exec to the DataHub via an Ethernet cable:
Tap and hold the Power button on your GO exec touchscreen for five seconds to power it on.
Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet Port on your GO exec.
From your GO exec, run an Ethernet cable to the DataHub and connect it to the Datahub WAN Ethernet port.
The DataHub will automatically connect to the GO exec.
Check that the DataHub is connected to the GO exec via Ethernet
We recommend using your laptop or desktop computer to connect to DataHub Wi-Fi to complete this step. You could also use a large-screen tablet device.
Please open this page in a new window/tab or print it before continuing, as you may lose your Internet connection when you connect to the DataHub.
To check that the DataHub is connected to the GO exec via Ethernet:
Connect your device to the DataHub Wi-Fi network. It will look like PW-Hub-XXX in the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your device. Select "Connect Automatically" if this option is available. On a Mac, you may need to click "Other Networks" to see the Wi-Fi network.
Open a Chrome or Safari browser, and type 10.10.10.1 in the URL bar.
Log in with the default username admin and password admin.
Upon login the DataHub will default to the Settings > Internet Status > WAN Interfaces page. Check that the Ethernet WAN widget is coloured red with Status: Offline.
The Ethernet WAN interface shows the Status: Offline when the DataHub and GO exec are connected because the GO exec will not allow a PING to pass through it, which is how the widgets determine Internet Status. Later in this article explains how to check the status of your GO exec connection with the DataHub after it is enabled.
The GO exec is now connected to the DataHub via Ethernet. Continue to - Enable the GO exec Quick Start settings.
Use Wi-Fi option to connect your GO exec to the DataHub
We recommend using your laptop or desktop computer to connect to DataHub Wi-Fi to complete this step. You could also use a large-screen tablet device.
To use Wi-Fi to connect your GO exec to the DataHub:
Connect your device to DataHub Wi-Fi. Please select "Connect Automatically" if this option is available. On a Mac, you may need to click "Other Networks" to see the Wi-Fi network.
Open a Chrome or Safari browser, and type 10.10.10.1 in the URL bar.
Log in with the default username admin and password admin.
The main landing page may look like the image below.
On the top menu, click Wi-Fi.
Click the Enable button on the default landing page, Connect to Internet (2.4 GHz). This will trigger the page to reload.
Click the drop-down list beside Network (SSID) and select your GO exec Wi-Fi. It will look similar to 'IRIDIUM-xxx
Important Note: Check your Iridium Wi-Fi network is not on the same Channel as another Wi-Fi network on your vessel eg. Starlink, Raymarine or Axiom devices. This will create collisions on the network and the connection will be unreliable.
In the example below, the GO exec Wi-Fi and two other Wi-Fi networks are sharing Channel 5. If you see this, please change the Iridium GO exec Wi-Fi channel first, then connect your DataHub via Wi-Fi.
Type in the Wi-Fi password, which by default is password in lowercase.
Click the * star button to reveal the password and double-check it.
Click the green CONNECT button. You do not need to click SAVE & APPLY.
Important Note: Please wait up to one minute while the DataHub connects to your GO exec Wi-Fi. When first connected, the page will update to Disconnected and then Connected again before completing. Please check the Wi-Fi Status displays Connected to <Iridium-xxx> as in the image above before you move on.
Congratulations! The GO exec is now connected to the DataHub via Wi-Fi.
In the future, please connect all your devices, e.g. laptops, phones or tablets, to the DataHub Wi-Fi to take advantage of your PredictWind services and use the Internet. Please forget the Iridium GO exec Wi-Fi network on your other devices, or turn off auto-join in your device's Wi-Fi settings so they do not accidentally switch to it.
Enable the GO exec Quick-Start settings on the DataHub
If you subscribe to the Iridium GO! Unlimited or PredictWind plans, you can now enable all six Quick-Start settings to take advantage of the GO exec connection and activate GPS Tracking, Boat Polars, AIS data, and PredictMail with Poll on Tracking.
Important Note: Iridium GO! exec 5 plan subscribers - to avoid unexpected data overages and bill shock, we strongly advise enabling only Tracking via Iridium and Polars/Anchor Alert App via Iridium. Do not use the Anchor Alert App, as alerts may result in data overages.
To enable the GO exec quick start settings on the DataHub:
From the left menu, click Internet > Iridium GO! exec.
Tick Enable to drop down the checkboxes on the page.
Tick the checkboxes to enable Tracking via Iridium, Polars/Anchor Alert App via Iridium, AIS via Iridium, PredictMail via Iridium and Poll on Tracking.
Click Save & Apply. Please wait up to one minute while the DataHub saves these settings; it will reload the page twice during this process.
Important Note: If you have changed the default IP address / Port / Pin of the Iridium GO exec, please update these fields before you click SAVE & APPLY.
Check your DataHub and GO exec Connection
To check if your DataHub and GO exec are successfully connected, click on the Status menu, which will appear at the top of the page, like below:
On the GO Exec > Status page, you will see if successfully connected:
Signal Status: The current status of the Iridium Satellite Internet Connection. By default, this should say Not Connected. When the DataHub activates the GO exec satellite internet connection, the Signal Status will update to Connected. It also shows the signal strength bars.
Lines 1 & 2: These are your Iridium GO exec phone numbers. The GO exec has two phone lines, so two devices can make a call through it simultaneously. Please share these with family and friends.
IMEI: This is the device's International Mobile Equipment Identity. This identifies your GO exec device to mobile networks.
ICCID: This is your SIM card number, Integrated Circuit Card ID. This links your GO exec to your GO exec airtime plan.
Firmware: GO exec Firmware version.
Important: Making calls via the Iridium GO exec with your mobile
Please connect your device directly to Iridium GO exec Wi-Fi to make outbound calls.
Outbound calling does not work when your device is connected to the GO exec through DataHub Wi-Fi. An outbound call will dial out and connect; however, no audio will be sent or received.
Inbound calls will be received through the GO exec App on your device and will work as expected when connected via DataHub Wi-Fi.
Reconnect to DataHub Wi-Fi after making the call and forget the Iridium GO exec Wi-Fi network on your device to ensure it remains connected to DataHub Wi-Fi so PredictMail and other DataHub services will work.
