If your iOS or Android device has a GPS, with the correct App permissions enabled, your current position will display as a white dot on maps in the PredictWind App. If you do not see it, please check your iOS or Android device's GPS settings based on the steps below.
iOS (iPhone/iPad)- Enable Location Services GPS
To enable the PredictWind App to display your GPS positions as a white dot on maps on your iPhone or iPad, open Settings on your device, then:
Tap Privacy and Security.
Tap Location Services.
Tap PredictWind if using the App
Tap to select While Using the App.
Tap to enable Precise Location.
Tap to go back.
Force close and re-open the PredictWind App
If at any time you are asked by your iPhone or iPad whether you wish to Allow PredictWind to access this device's location? Please tap Allow While Using App.
Android - Enable Location Services GPS
To enable the PredictWind App to display your GPS positions as a white dot on maps on your Android Phone or tablet, open Settings on your Android device, then:
Tap Apps
Scroll down until you find PredictWind
Tap Permissions for PredictWind
Turn ON location permissions.
Select Allow only while using the app, select use precise location
Select Force stop and re-open the PredictWind App
If at any time you are asked by your Android device whether you wish to Allow PredictWind to access this device's location? Please tap Allow.
Read Location from Feed (Tablet with no GPS)
For customers with a PredictWind DataHub or DataHub Pro
If your device lacks a GPS, the PredictWind App will use your IP address location (e.g. from Starlink), which is often inaccurate, especially at sea.
For accurate GPS positioning on devices without built-in GPS, use the PredictWind DataHub, which can share your boat's NMEA GPS data to your devices over Wi-Fi.
To enable your iPad to use the DataHub GPS in the PredictWind App to display a white dot on Maps:
