Keeping your apps up to date ensures you have access to the latest features, improvements and bug fixes. We recommend updating your apps while you have a reliable Wi-Fi or internet connection, particularly before heading offshore.
Apple – iPhone or iPad
To manually update an app from the Apple App Store:
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your profile picture/account icon in the top-right corner.
Tap App Updates, or scroll to the available updates.
Find the app you want to update.
Tap Update next to the app.
Wait for the update to download and install before opening the app.
You can also select Update All if you would like to install all available app updates.
Android – Google Play Store
To manually update an app:
Open the Google Play Store.
Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
Tap Manage apps & device.
Under Updates available, tap See details.
Find the app you want to update and tap Update.
Wait for the update to download and install before opening the app.
Alternatively, tap Update all to install all available updates.
Before Heading Offshore
We strongly recommend updating your apps well in advance of heading offshore, ideally several days before your departure. Do not wait until the morning of your departure to install updates.
After updating, allow plenty of time to thoroughly test the apps and make sure everything is working as expected while you still have access to a reliable internet connection.
If you use PredictWind products offshore, update all relevant apps while you have a good Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Planning ahead gives you time to resolve any unexpected issues before your passage.
