Iridium GO! airtime plans operate on a fixed billing cycle that starts on the 1st of each calendar month.
If you activate your Iridium GO! SIM partway through a month, your airtime plan charge for that first month is prorated. On the 1st of the following month, you are charged for the full monthly airtime plan.
Can I activate and cancel my plan within the same month?
No. You cannot activate and deactivate an Iridium GO! airtime plan within the same calendar month.
For example:
If you activate on September 30, you pay only the prorated airtime charge for September. On October 1, your plan renews and you are charged for the full month of October. You can then deactivate your plan during October to prevent it from renewing on November 1.
If you activate on October 1, you cannot deactivate on October 31, as the activation and deactivation would fall within the same billing month. Your plan would need to continue into the next billing cycle.
Important: Deactivation is immediate. As soon as you deactivate your Iridium GO! SIM, the airtime service will stop and you will no longer be able to use your Iridium GO! for calls, messages or data. If you still need to use your Iridium GO!, do not deactivate the SIM until you have finished using the service.
Example of Iridium GO! charges
Using an Iridium GO! Unlimited Plan costing US$154.95 per month as an example, the prorated daily rate is approximately US$5.16 per day.
If you activate on September 30, you would be charged:
US$49.95 activation fee
Approximately US$5.16 for September 30
US$154.95 when the airtime plan renews on October 1
You can request deactivation at any time during October, but the October airtime plan has already been charged in full and there are no refunds for unused days.
To minimise your airtime charges, activating near the end of a calendar month means your first billing period is only for the remaining days of that month. You can then deactivate during the following month to prevent another full monthly renewal.
When are overage charges billed?
If you use more minutes or data than your airtime plan includes, overage charges are calculated and charged at the end of the billing month.
