How to use Current Maps.

  • Click on forecast then Current maps from the left menu bar. The Current models are

    • Tidal and Ocean (Tidal Current and Mercator Ocean Current combined)

    • Mercator (Ocean Current)

    • RTOFS (Ocean Current)

  • The colour gradients show the significant current flows, the black arrows show the primary current direction.

  • By clicking on the current resolution button (Top right corner) you can select the model and resolution of the current map you want to view.

  • The higher the resolution, the more accuracy and detail of the forecast. For example 100m is more accurate than 400m.

  • You can also click on the map to get detailed current intensity for that point on the map in the pop up box.

  • Use the animation controls to play or pause the animation, or click on the timeline to jump to a forecast time. Use the zoom controls on the map or your mouse wheel, or the trackpad in your laptop to control your view.
