DataHub: How to set your passwords and log in to your PredictWind Forecast Account

Secure your DataHub and connect your PredictWind Forecast Account before setting up GPS Tracking.

Written by Matt Crockett

To enable GPS tracking or Remote Access you need to set up three separate usernames and passwords in the DataHub:

1. DataHub User Passwords

The DataHub uses two user profiles > admin and superadmin logins. These protect access to your DataHub settings and are required to enable Remote Access for Support.

Passwords must be set up for both users, the admin user and the superadmin user:

Admin user: the default user account used by most people for everyday DataHub setup and configuration. It has been designed to be simple and easy to use and to show only what most users need to see.

Superadmin user: An advanced full-administration account that allows access to all DataHub configuration, networking, and diagnostic features. It is not as easy to use but it is more powerful.

2. PredictWind Forecast Account

Logging in to your PredictWind Forecast Account on your DataHub enables services such as GPS Tracking and access for Professional subscribers to enable features like Over-the-Horizon AIS (OHA).

Important: Set up passwords for both DataHub users. Complete both steps before setting up GPS Tracking or enabling Remote Access.

Before you start

  • Allow 15–20 minutes after the firmware update for the DataHub to finish starting its services before changing settings.

  • Have your PredictWind Forecast Account email address and password ready.

  • Connect your DataHub to a working Internet connection, such as Starlink, home Wi-Fi, a cellular router or USB tethering.

Step 1: Log in to your DataHub

  1. Connect your computer, tablet or phone to the DataHub Wi-Fi network, or connect your computer to the DataHub LAN port using an Ethernet cable.

  2. Open a web browser, such as Chrome or Safari.

  3. Enter 10.10.10.1 in the address bar.

  4. Log in using the default DataHub credentials, unless you have already changed them:

    • Username: admin

    • Password: admin

  5. Click LOG IN.

Step 2: Set a secure DataHub password

Changing the default DataHub password helps protect your DataHub settings and devices connected to its network.

  1. Go to Services > Settings > Password.

  2. In Current Password, enter your existing DataHub admin password.
    The default is admin.

  3. In New Password, enter a new secure password.

  4. Enter the same password in Confirmation.

  5. Click the * at the end of each password field to reveal and check what you entered, and take a photo of it.

  6. Save the new password in your password manager.

  7. Click SAVE.

Important Note: Set a secure password. To keep your DataHub logins consistent, you can use the same password you have already set for admin, provided it meets these requirements:

  • At least 8 characters

  • At least one capital letter

  • At least one number

  • At least one special character, such as !, @ or #

Take a photo of it and save the password in your password manager, then click SAVE.

Step 3: Check your DataHub Internet connection

Your DataHub requires a working Internet connection to verify your PredictWind Forecast Account. Successful Forecast Account verification cannot be performed without it.

An active (Green) WAN interface indicates that the DataHub has an Internet connection.

If no Internet connection is active, connect the DataHub to the Internet before continuing.

Step 4: Log in to your PredictWind Forecast Account

Log in to your PredictWind Forecast Account on your DataHub before you set up GPS Tracking.

Important: Use your PredictWind Forecast Account credentials here, not your DataHub admin password or your PredictWind Satellite Portal login details.

  1. Go to Services > Settings > Internet Status.

  2. Under WAN Interfaces, check that at least one Internet connection shows a green box with Status: Active.

  3. Go to Services > Settings > Account.

  4. In Email Address, enter your PredictWind Forecast Account email address.

  5. In Password, enter your PredictWind Forecast Account password.

  6. Leave Force Settings unchecked.

  7. Click SAVE & APPLY.

If your account is verified successfully, the DataHub will return to the Internet Status page. To confirm your account:

  1. Check the Status shown on the Services > Settings > Account page above your email address.

  2. The account status will show Verified, together with your PredictWind Forecast subscription level. For example: Status: Verified Professional Account

Troubleshooting

My PredictWind Forecast Account shows Invalid

If the Account page displays Invalid, your Forecast Account has not been successfully verified.

  1. Check that the email address is the one you use to log in to your PredictWind Forecast Account.

  2. Re-enter your Forecast Account password.

  3. Click the * star next to the Forecast Account password to reveal it, and check it.

  4. Confirm that your DataHub has an active Internet connection.

  5. Click SAVE & APPLY again.

  6. Return to Account and check the status.

Do not use Force Settings to bypass normal account verification.

Remote Access keeps asking me to change my password

If you have already changed your DataHub admin password but Remote Access still asks you to change it, you may need to update the superadmin password separately.

The DataHub uses both admin and superadmin logins. On current firmware, changing the admin password is intended to update both, but if Remote Access continues to prompt you, check the superadmin password.

  1. Open 10.10.10.1 in your browser.

  2. Log in with the username superadmin and its current password. If it has not previously been changed, the default password is superadmin.

  3. Go to Services > Settings > Password.

  4. Check that the heading says Set Password for superadmin.

  5. Enter the Current Password.

  6. In New Password and Confirmation, enter a secure password. You can use the same secure password as admin if you want both logins to match.

  7. Click SAVE.

  8. Log back in and try Remote Access again.
