Overview

By default, the DataHub will send and receive emails up to 250Kb in size. Due to MIME encoding, sending attachments via email makes them 30-40% larger than the original file size, so in effect, the DataHub will send or receive emails up to ~150kb.

When you receive an email larger than 250kb, it will be held in the Server Quarantine.

When you send an email larger than 250kb, it will be held in the Local Quarantine.

The quarantines and default limits were designed to restrict data usage on Iridium airtime plans to realistic file size transfer limits over satellite connections (GO! / GO exec) and avoid bill shock due to unintended airtime data overages.

PredictMail Server & Local Quarantine

When you receive or send an email exceeding the quarantine size limit, the DataHub will generate and send you an email from mailbot@localhost to let you know an email is held in the Server or Local Quarantine.

Check and adjust PredictMail Quarantine filter sizes

If your primary connection methods are Starlink, 4/5G Cellular, high-speed Wi-Fi or a GO exec on the GO exec Unlimited, 100Mb, 250Mb, or 1200Mb Iridium airtime plans, you may wish to review and increase your In and Out filter sizes.

To check or adjust your DataHub automatic filtering limits:

  • Click on PredictMail, then click the Filtering tab.

  • In Size is the maximum email size your DataHub will automatically download. Any email larger than this will be left on the server and held in Server Quarantine until the DataHub is instructed to download it.

  • Out Size is the maximum email size your DataHub will automatically send. Any email larger than this will be held in DataHub Local Quarantine until the DataHub is instructed to send it.

Download or send email from the Server and Local Quarantine

To receive or send a quarantine email, tap to reply to the email and then hit send. You do not need to add any text to the body of the email. Below is an example of an empty reply to download a Server Quarantine email:

Delete a Server or Local Quarantine email

To delete a Server Quarantined email instead of downloading it or to delete a Local Quarantine item without sending it, please tap to reply to the Mailbot email, add only this to the reply, and send it: delete

Here is an example:

Datahub - downloading an email from Server Quarantine

To download an email in the DataHub from Server Quarantine:

  • Log in to the DataHub.

  • Click on PredictMail.

  • Click on Server Quarantine.

  • Click the blue Download button next to the email you wish to download, or click to Select All->Download Selected.

  • Emails will be sent the next time the email connects to poll/sync with GPS tracking.

To manually prompt the queued email to download before the next GPS Tracking polls:

  • Click on the Connection menu.

  • Click Connect.

Datahub - send an email from Local Quarantine

To release an email from Local Quarantine and send it:

  • Log in to the DataHub.

  • Click on PredictMail.

  • Click on Local Quarantine.

  • Click the blue Release button next to the email you wish to release, or click to Select All->Release Selected.

  • Emails will be sent the next time the email connects to sync (send/receive).

The Server Quarantine works similarly, however instead of Release, click Download.

To manually prompt the queued email to download before the next GPS Tracking polls:

  • Click on the Connection menu.

  • Click Connect.

Delete Quarantine and Local Inbox emails on the DataHub

You can also log in to the DataHub PredictMail and clear the Quarantine or Local Inbox folders via a web browser. To do this:

  • Log in to the DataHub.

  • Click on PredictMail.

  • In turn, click on the Server Quarantine, Local Quarantine, and Inbox top menus as you wish.

  • Click the PURGE or PURGE ALL buttons.

  • Next, click the Connection menu to sync, clearing the Server Quarantine.

  • Click Connect.

This transfers the purge email command to the PredictMail Internet email server for Server Quarantine.
