How to prevent and fix deleted or duplicate mail from downloading into your PredictMail app.

If your mail app downloads deleted or duplicate PredictMail messages when your device switches between high-speed Wi-Fi or cellular internet and DataHub Wi-Fi, then your email app is not deleting mail from the server when it is deleted in the app. This will continue each time the device switches internet connections until the message is deleted on either the PredictMail Internet mail server, or the DataHub.

To resolve this check the following:

  1. You are using one device for PredictMail. PredictMail is designed to work on one device only.

  2. Your mail app settings are configured as recommended.
Important Note: for Apple Mail iPhone/iPad & Apple Mail Mac, check the advanced settings in the setup guides and sync after deleting mail in the app. PredictMail for Android is recommended if you have an Android device.

  3. Delete all mail on the PredictMail Internet mail server and DataHub using the DataHub Services > PredictMail > Tools > PURGE EVERYTHING button. Then, delete unwanted email from your device, and it won't be downloaded again.

We appreciate this issue can be frustrating; however, if your email app is configured and used as suggested, the issue should be minimized or not occur. The root cause of this issue is that:

  • PredictMail is POP3-based, and regular email apps can use it.

  • There are two POP3 mail servers from which your device can download email: one on the Internet and one on the DataHub.

  • PredictMail is available onshore via high-speed Wi-Fi / cellular internet and offshore asynchronously via satellite communication devices such as the GO exec and Iridium GO! through the DataHub. The DataHub compresses and syncs email transfers in the background to optimize satellite bandwidth, minimize data costs, and save you time when sending or checking mail.

  • This design creates a trade-off because while it makes PredictMail easy to access and use across many apps and platforms in familiar ways, PredictWind cannot control how the email app manages deleted messages.

  • Set-up guides with recommended settings are provided for popular apps, and with PredictMail for Android, PredictWind has preconfigured the optimal settings into the app to delete messages immediately when deleted in the app, so we recommend that.

Delete all PredictMail on the internet mail server and DataHub

Important Note: Your DataHub needs firmware version 4.20 or later to follow these steps. First, please check and update your DataHub firmware if required.

To delete all emails on the PredictMail Internet mail server and in your DataHub, including mail in the Server Quarantine, Local Quarantine, and Inbox:

  1. Log into DataHub Wi-Fi.

  2. Open a Chrome or Safari browser, and type 10.10.10.1 in the URL bar.

  3. Log in with the default username admin and password admin.

  4. Click the Services > PredictMail > Tools > PURGE EVERYTHING button and wait while the page reloads.

  5. When the Services > PredictMail > Connection page has loaded, click the green CONNECT button.

  6. When the connection session has been completed, delete all unwanted mail from App, and it will not be downloaded again.
