How to update DataHub Firmware

DataHub Firmware update how to guide - v3.33 to 4.20 or later

Before you start

To update the DataHub firmware, the DataHub must be connected to high speed Internet. To connect your DataHub to the Internet, please review the articles below:

Important Notes: DO NOT attempt to update DataHub Firmware using an Iridium GO! or Iridium GO exec. You require High speed internet for this.

The iPhone or Android device that provides a USB tether for the Internet with the DataHub cannot be the same device used to log in to the DataHub on 10.10.10.1

Logging in to the DataHub using a laptop, computer or large-screen tablet to update the Firmware is recommended. Please do not use a mobile phone.

Update the DataHub Firmware

After you connect the DataHub to the Internet, please check the Firmware version by looking in the bottom right-hand cover of any page for the text HUB-32m v3.xx. The 3.xx or 4.XX indicates the Firmware version number.

Based on your Firmware version,

DataHub Firmware 3.32 or earlier

  • Please contact our support team by email for detailed instruction.

DataHub Firmware from 3.33 or later

  • From the left menu, under the Services heading, click Settings.

  • On the top menu on the right-hand side, click Software Updates.

  • Click the CHECK button.

  • A page displaying Software Updates > Status will show while the new Firmware is downloaded.

  • Please be patient for the download process to start and complete. If the download fails, please refresh the page and retry. If you have difficulty downloading the update, please use a Computer or Laptop, or connect the DataHub to the Internet a different way, e.g. Wi-Fi instead of USB-tethering.

  • When the Firmware has completed downloading, click the red CONFIRM button at the bottom of the page.

  • A page with Software Updates, DO NOT POWER OFF THE DEVICE will display while the update is in progress. Do not power off the DataHub while the new Firmware is being installed. This will destroy the device.

  • The Firmware update is initially complete once the PW-Hub-XXXX Wi-FI is again shown as an available Wi-Fi network on your device or computer.

Important Note: After a Firmware update, please allow the DataHub 15-20 minutes to fully unpack the Firmware, load it into the Flash memory, and start up all the DataHub programs, such as PredictMail. Any changes made to DataHub settings during this time will be only saved temporarily into RAM. Clicking the Save & Apply button will only work as usual after 15-20 minutes.

  • Please reconnect the device to the DataHub Wi-Fi or via Ethernet LAN and verify the new software version by checking the firmware version as displayed on the footer of the login page or any other page in the DataHub.

    Please repeat the steps above if the version number has stayed the same.

  • When you have successfully updated the Firmware and click the CHECK button on the Software Updates page, You should see "Your system is up to date - HUB-32m-vX.XX",
